Who wants to open the mail?

Post by Timithie Norman, Marketing and Communication Manager at Kidspace Children's Museum

Growing up, I remember the excitement that came with getting the mail. That letters, packages, catalogs and more would show up at our house everyday was a miracle! I used to love going through the mail and looking at the magazines, opening cards or reading letters from family.

Now, as a working adult, mail is, well... much less exciting. I get bills, ads, credit card offers, and if I'm lucky, maybe a fun magazine. But at work, we still get some pretty exciting stuff.

It always piques my interest when a box arrives carrying a label that indicates LIVE MATERIAL or OPEN IMMEDIATELY!

Here's what was inside this particular package:

Can't you tell what those are?! No? Well here's a close up:

It was a container of little hermit crabs, crawling over each other and very happy to have a breath of fresh air. All the little crabs now live in the Digging Deeper Gallery where they are on display every day.

So while some mail can bore you to tears, still other bits of mail can inspire and excite!

What's your favorite thing to get in the mail?
