"Winter is an etching, spring a watercolor, summer an oil painting and autumn a mosaic of them all."- Stanley Horowitz
Another summer has come to an end, and already we are thinking about the winter season just around the corner. But before the holiday shopping and party planning, don’t forget to take a breath of fresh air and enjoy the acoustics of crunchy leaves beneath your feet.
That’s right!
Rake up a huge pile of leaves, get yourself a running start, and leap into the pile as if you are 5 years old all over again. Its autumn; my favorite season of the year! Ever wonder why the leaves change color?
Well, according to sciencemadesimple.com: “During winter, there is not enough light or water for photosynthesis. The trees will rest, and live off the food they stored during the summer. They begin to shut down their food-making factories. The green chlorophyll disappears from the leaves. As the bright green fades away, we begin to see yellow and orange colors. Small amounts of these colors have been in the leaves all along. We just can't see them in the summer, because they are covered up by the green chlorophyll.”
